Maestro Van de Velde works as a music Director & Conductor since 1996 with CHARLEMAGNE ORCHESTRA for EUROPE. The Orchestra comprises musicians from 27 countries and perform works from classical and romantic repertoire to compositions by contemporary artists.
Maestro Van Velde studied as professional violinist at Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp and Brussels, and in Goslar, Germany. He worked as a professional violinist with Philharmonic Orchestra of Liège.
He studied conducting at the Royal conservatoire of Antwerp, Belgium, “Pierre Monteux School for Advanced Conductors” and at the Tanglewood Music Center for the arts, United States of America with Charles Bruck, Enrique Arturo Diemecke, Seiji Ozawa, Jorma Panula and under the personal direction of Lorin Maazel.
He has been music director & conductor in residence of INTERMEZZO OPERA FESTIVAL & ELARDO INTERNATIONAL OPERA COMPETITION in Bruges since 2008 and has conducted various orchestras around the world, most notably: Hungarian Philharmonic in Budapest, National Orchestra of Mexico, Czech Chamber Orchestra, Dubna Symphony Orchestra in Moscow, Yamagata Symphony Orchestra in Japan, Flint Symphony Orchestra and Tulsa Symphony Orchestra in the United States, Deutsche Kammerakademie, Guanajuato Symphony Orchestra, State of Mexico Symphony Orchestra in Xalapa, Croation Chamber al Orchestra, Vojvodina Symphonic Orchestra Serbia, Slovak Sinfonietta (two European tours 2008 & 2012), Orquesta Filharmonica Buenos Aires in Argentina, Seoul Philharmonic in Korea.
He has worked with outstanding artists including: Mstislav Rostropovitch, Nobuko Imai, Yuzuko Horigome, Liviu Prunaru, Marie McLaughlin, Olga Pasichnyk, Kinga Dobay, Jean Claude Vanden Eynde, Stephen Salters, Iwona Sobotka, Eugenio Toussaiznt, Liu Fang, Lorenzo Gatto, Maria Gabrilova, Daniel Blumenthal, Philippe Graffin, Cassandra Zoé Velasco, Marcell Bakonyi, Ryan Gorbil, Tuncay Kurtoglu, Anna Federova, Anna Malikova.
Bartholomio has financed most of his musical projects through fund raising from private sector. He served as ROLEX Ambassador (5 years) BMW serie 7 (5 years) & Jaguar XJ (one year).
